STUDIO ART

Art has always been one of my greatest passions. From writing and illustrating little books as a child to filling sketchbooks with fashion designs in my early teens, creativity has always been a constant in my life. Today, photography, painting, and drawing continue to serve as some of my favorite creative outlets.

As a photographer for the UGA Wesley Foundation for three years, I gained extensive experience in event photography. Beyond my work at Wesley, I have expanded my photography skills through film photography courses at the University of Georgia, graduation portrait sessions for UGA students, event coverage for marketing materials during my internship with the UGA Career Center, and content creation for Laura Hope Whitaker’s personal brand and social media platforms. These experiences strengthened my understanding of lighting, composition, storytelling, and photo editing while helping me grow more confident behind the camera.

Although I loved painting as a child, I rediscovered that passion while studying abroad in Italy during the summer of 2024, where I took an introductory painting course for my studio art minor. In this class, I learned to work with oil paints while creating still lifes, portraits, landscapes, and plein air paintings inspired by the Italian environment. Since then, I have continued exploring painting techniques through additional coursework and personal projects. I have also taken several drawing classes over the years, developing skills in ink, graphite, and charcoal. These artistic experiences have strengthened my creative thinking and brainstorming process while also influencing the visual direction of marketing and design projects I have worked on. I always keep a sketchbook nearby, ready to capture ideas whenever inspiration strikes.

While I am not pursuing a career in the arts, I included this section in my portfolio to demonstrate that my creativity extends beyond marketing alone. The transferable skills I have developed through photography, painting, drawing, and visual storytelling — including composition, observation, editing, and creative problem-solving — continue to shape and strengthen my approach to marketing and design.

Event Photography

I have been a member of The Wesley Foundation’s Leadership Team on the Media Team for the past three years, where I have documented services and events through photography. Throughout this time, I’ve used my creative perspective to capture and communicate the spirit of the community, creating visual assets that help share and promote the meaningful experiences Wesley offers students.

This role has allowed me to grow significantly as a photographer, both technically and creatively, while also giving me the opportunity to express and reflect my faith through my work. Below are some of my favorite images I’ve captured over the past three years.

Painting & Drawing
Aug 2022 - Present

At UGA, I was an art student pursuing a Studio Art minor, which provided me with valuable opportunities to expand my creative skill set. Through courses in painting and drawing, I developed a strong foundation that has carried into my personal artistic practice. I now regularly sketch in ink and graphite and enjoy painting with oils in my spare time.

These experiences have strengthened my creative process, teaching me how to thoughtfully develop ideas through sketching and the importance of brainstorming to arrive at more refined and original outcomes. Beyond technical skills, studying art has also shaped the way I observe the world, encouraging me to pay closer attention to light, form, and composition. This perspective has deepened both my creative work and my overall appreciation for everyday moments. Below are some of my favorite works of mine.

General Photography
Jan 2023 - Present

In addition to my painting and drawing coursework, I have taken film photography classes at UGA, further expanding my creative skill set. I’ve applied these skills in my internships with the UGA Career Center and Extra Special People (ESP), capturing event photography used for promotional and marketing purposes. I also have experience photographing graduation sessions for peers, adding posed portrait work to my portfolio.

Photography has become both a meaningful creative outlet and a valuable tool within my marketing work, allowing me to create authentic, high-quality visual content that enhances storytelling and audience engagement.
